Refreshment options are only available in the first third of the hike on the way uphill at the Rodelhaus and at the summit at the Wurmberg Alm.
Alternatively, a shortened variant of about 13 km without a steep ascent (including a cable car ride) from the Wurmberg summit is also possible!
Shortly before the end of the route, a shallow ford between the two waterfalls invites tired hiking feet to cool off in the Bode, which is anything but "warm".
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.

Roadbook
From the parking lot at the Relexa Hotel via the small forest path and the former railway bridge towards Große Bodestraße. Follow the forest path marked with "10" (in a circled green triangle) as "Wurmbergtour" along the left riverbank of the Warme Bode in a steady, slight uphill climb upstream. After passing the lower and upper Bode waterfalls, continue to the large trail junction at the "Alfred-Rieche Shelter", where the section and direction change with the "Bärenbrücke". Half-right on the forest road above the disused large quarry, continue uphill towards the "Rodelhaus" (first refreshment opportunity). At the "Bratwurst" trail junction, take a half-left on the wide Haeberlinsweg to the former outlet of the once ski jumping hill. Left of the metal stairs via the narrow mountain path to the observation tower on the Wurmberg summit (second and last refreshment opportunity at the "Wurmberg Alm").
From here, start the hiking route when using the steep railway.
Along the reservoir with a panoramic view towards Brocken, gently downhill via the asphalted Sögdingsweg, which is left on a forest path at the end of a 180-degree curve. Parallel to the former inner German border on the Ulmer Weg to the signpost "Dreieckiger Pfahl", turn left to the viewing platform at the raised bog "Bodebruch" and follow the further route through the large-scale dead spruce dominated source area below the Achtermannshöhe along the Große and Kleine Bode southwards to the Moosbrücke, until via a short steep connecting path in a hairpin turn the trail junction at the Alfred-Rieche Shelter or Bärenbrücke is reached again. Continue downstream on the already familiar section past the two waterfalls back to Braunlage.
