The Bocca di Trat is an old crossing between the Sarca and Ledro valleys, which lost its importance with the construction of the Ponale road in the mid-19th century. During the First World War, the front line also crossed this ridge. Numerous remains such as trenches, caverns and shelters can still be found along our hiking route today. The starting point is at a relatively high altitude here, so the elevation gain is limited. Two refreshment and accommodation huts even tempt you to stay a little longer. The Rifugio Pernici in particular, not far from the Bocca di Trat, could be a base for hikes on the Gaverdina ridge on one side and on the multi-peaked ridge on the other, which stretches as far as the Rocchetta. The markings of the "Sentiero della Pace" are the connecting signposts. We have created this route as a circular tour that takes us over to the Bocca di Saval. Beautiful, unobstructed views of the valley from the top of the ridge are a reward for the effort of the ascent. The tour is particularly attractive in autumn, when the views are clear and the deciduous forests are in full color.
From the parking lot at Malga Pranzo, walk in a westerly direction (i.e. straight ahead) until the path on the right (marker no. 402, red) soon points in the direction of Rifugio Pernici (leaving Cap. Grassi on the left). The trail first passes Malga Pranzo, then enters the forest and climbs gently up a wide path. Beyond the unmanaged Malga Dosso Fiori, 1357 m, we reach the Bocca di Trat, 1581 m, via several large hairpin bends. Here we also come across the "Sentiero della Pace", which runs along the long ridges and crests and which we now follow for part of the way. To the right are the steep and jagged rock faces of the Corno di Pichea foothills; and to the west of the Valle dei Concei is the highest mountain in the Garda mountains, Monte Cadria. We now continue left along a wide path and after a 5-minute walk reach the impressive Rifugio Nino Pernici, which is situated in a panoramic position above the valleys. From the hut, a partly narrow high-level path, without any significant
