On the Flower Mountain of Tyrol

The Blaser is known for its unusually rich flora and has therefore even been crowned the "Flower Mountain of Tyrol." Surely this can be a motivation to come up especially in early or mid-summer, but clear autumn days also have their advantages, as the Blaser proves to be a great vantage point with a deep view into the Wipptal and a panoramic view that is explained to us in detail in a small panorama roundabout. Last but not least, we look forward to stopping at the Blaser Hut, just a stone's throw away.

In Trins, we head upward on the south-facing mountain slope (forest road), in the area of a gully with No. 30 turning right over a small meadow onto an initially broad forest path, after a few hairpin turns past the fenced Bannwald. A sign points to the detour to the "Eagle View." At a bench, take the shortcut path and after climbing over a fence at about 1750 meters enter more open terrain with mowed meadows and scattered hayricks. Occasionally a forest road is also crossed. Around the Sanddürrenmähder area, approx. 1970 m, No. 13 from Steinach joins. We gain altitude further in meadow terrain, observe the marked shortcuts and finally reach a kind of high plateau where the Blaser Hut, 2180 m, is located. From there, only 10 minutes remain over a gently ascending slope to the summit of the Blaser, 2241 m.On the descent back to the Blaser Hut and with some hairpin turns through larch-meadow terrain downhill, until we can turn left off the main path with No. 31 into a ravine structure.

Profile picture of Mark Zahel Author Mark Zahel
