Southeast of Wismar, the Sternberger lake district presents itself as an ideal area for hikers and water sports enthusiasts. This varied hike leads through the nature park Sternberger Seen, founded in 2005, between Blankenberg and Warin. The sometimes gorge-like Radenbach valley with hillside spring moors is explored by the eponymous nature trail before the nature park path leads us to Warin. Paths above the 66-hectare Glammsee and the Tönnisbach lead back to Blankenberg, past a former Slavic castle.
From Blankenberg station we go east to the B192 and on its bike path cross the railway crossing on the left. After 150 meters, we turn right onto the Plattenweg towards Weißer Krug/Warin (E9A), soon with the first signs of the Gerhard-Schulze nature trail. The namesake documented East German forestry site surveys as their leader until 1990 in five volumes totaling 1723 pages and also made a name for himself with his botanical passion wild roses.After 180 meters, we follow the trail to the left (green diagonal, yellow line). The natural path runs above the stream with a deeply incised valley. At a junction above a bridge over the creek, the nature park path E9a joins from the right. From here straight ahead towards Warin (4.3 km, blue line and green diagonal) on a nice path through a wetland with hillside spring moor.After a short ascent, at a T-junction we turn left onto the grassy forest path towards Warin (3 km) and shortly after cross the Radenbach.
