The Bivacco Slàtaper primarily accommodates summit aspirants, via ferrata fans, and high-altitude trail enthusiasts. It is also worth a visit as a touring destination – thanks to its great location in the Kar Fond de Rusecco. However, for regular hikers, there is only one acceptable access route to this eagle's nest at the eastern foot of the Sorapiss walls: from Rifugio Scotter, reachable on foot or by shuttle bus, via Forcella Grande. The ascent climbs 1000 meters in altitude and requires considerable stamina and perseverance. It would be a pity to have bad visibility at the top after all that effort, as the views of Marmarole and Antelao deserve perfect weather!
From Rif. Scotter the gravel road (trail no. 226) ascends northwest in a bend to the road’s end before a protective gully that is traversed. Now through forest westwards in steep switchbacks upwards, later a ridge up to the right to the shoulder of Col da chi da Os with Rif. San Marco, 1823 m. On trail no. 226 through forest interspersed with larches northwards to a spring and downhill to the left into the steep, wild rock valley Giou Scuro. This ascends in switchbacks northwards, later to a notch on the left side of the valley. Further in switchbacks steeply uphill, later through the flattening valley up to Forc. Grande, 2255 m, between the Sorapiss and Marmarole groups.From Forc. Grande on trail no. 246 on a grassy ridge to the left (west) over to a saddle.
