Together with the connected Listertalsperre, the Biggesee forms one of the largest lakes in North Rhine-Westphalia. The reservoirs are accessible via numerous hiking and cycling paths, including the two-day Bigge-Lister Trail, which circles the bay-rich lake area over a length of 46 kilometers. Of course, there is also a wide range of activities on and in the water, including excursion ships and bathing beaches. Otherwise, a visit to the Atta Cave in nearby Attendorn is worthwhile. It is one of the most beautiful dripstone caves in Germany.
From the parking lots at the L512 west of the Bigge dam, 280 m, we go up onto the dam crest and cross it to the north past the Café Leuchtturm until its end. There shortly left and after 100 m right onto a path up the slope, which, marked A4, heads for the Biggeblick viewing platform at the SGV hut Attendorn. The ascent sometimes requires some surefootedness, but the passage can also be avoided on the lakeside promenade. From the platform, a comfortable path leads in a curve down to the campsite and the bathing bay Waldenburg, 322 m, where for a while the X22 (Kurkölner Weg) takes over the route. At the roadside, it goes southwards, in a right curve left into the slope and past the Waldenburger Chapel up into the forest, where the short detour to the Waldenburg ruin, 365 m, is worthwhile. The X22 then winds around the summit of Buchhagen, enters open terrain at Bürberger Heide and descends on forest roads to the houses of Bürberg. Here shortly right and immediately left out of the
