Descending along the ridge of the Stubnerkogel.
From the Stubnerkogel – with its impressive suspension bridge – you walk downward to the Stubneralm. From there you walk on an easy path to the middle station of the Stubnerkogelbahn. Enjoy the views!
Author’s recommendation
- If you want to avoid the suspension bridge, then when leaving the mountain station, take the wide path to the left up to the end of the suspension bridge.
- In bad weather, it is best to stay a bit lower on the wide path from the Stubneralm.
- You can do this walk from the hotel in half a day, but of course you can also make a day trip out of it (to enjoy all the viewpoints on top of the Stubnerkogel more).

Roadbook
- Start at the mountain station of the Stubnerkogelbahn. After leaving the gondola, walk through the restaurant to the outside, go right on the terrace, which automatically goes onto the suspension bridge. If you want to avoid this, then after the gondola ride exit the mountain station and take the wide path on the left. You will meet your brave fellow walkers at the end of the suspension bridge.
- After the suspension bridge go left, along the mountain station of the "Senderbahn" and its radio mast.
- Above the "Talblick" viewpoint continue on the descending path.
- Keep following the ridge, the "Stubnerkar", downhill.
- After about an hour you reach the Stubneralm (there are two versions, a summer and a winter alm). You can rest briefly at the lower summer alm, but the path to the middle station is just below the winter alm. If it is wet and very muddy there, you can alternatively take the wide path to the middle station.
- This path leads you in about half an hour to the Ahornhutte, near the middle station of the Stubnerkogelbahn.
