You start your route in the town center of Bad Friedrichshall-Kochendorf. Along the Kocher, you reach the Neckar. After just a few meters, you have left behind the industrial facilities of SüdSalz at the König Wilhelm II shaft. The visitor mine is undergoing extensive renovation and is expected to shine in new splendour in 2012. On the other side of the Neckar, a small natural idyll awaits you in the Neckar meadows right at the city gates. If you like, take a detour to the Bad Wimpfen monastery complex in the valley.
The return route leads you back to the city along the Salinenkanal. On one side, an industrial monument of the salt and brine era, and on the other side, an idyllic walk.

Starting from the historic town hall, follow the W6 marking along Mühlstraße towards the riding hall. At the Kocher riverbank, you reach the confluence with the Neckar – here turn right along the SüdSalz site towards the visitor mine (reopening expected in 2011) staying close to the Neckar riverbank. At the large parking lot, follow the W6 marking to the right over the lock. Just after the lock, briefly left and immediately right again. You cross the "Old Neckar" and behind the bridge sharply right into the floodplains continuing along the Neckar riverbank until you reach the railway bridge Bad Wimpfen – Bad Friedrichshall. At this point, a small detour to the Bad Wimpfen monastery is worthwhile – simply continue straight along the Neckar riverbank until you reach the monastery wall. To enter the monastery church and the monastery itself, you must walk around the grounds once. Back at the railway bridge, cross the Neckar and find yourself again on the Bad Friedrichshall riverbank side. Immediately at the end of the bridge, a staircase goes down on the left, then pass under the bridge on the left along the Salinenkanal to the small animal breeding home. Shortly before, the W6 marking leads you right over a narrow footbridge onto the Salinenkanal. Follow the Salinenkanal under the railway and along the B27 until you reach the next street. Here slightly left along the road above the Kocher. At the traffic light junction, turn right into Kochendorferstraße back to the starting point at the historic town hall.
