This route offers 100% Palatinate Forest: castles, rocks, viewpoints & an idyllic forest lake; and is a shortened version of the "Hans-Trapp route." All on easy paths. (Not for ambitious hikers ;)
From the Seehofweiher it goes first to the ruins of "Klein Frankreich," an outer bailey tower of Berwartstein Castle with a nice view of it.... Then the highlight of the route: the very well preserved Berwartstein Castle. It was first mentioned in 1152 in a document by Emperor F. Barbarossa. The castle originally belonged to the Salian and Hohenstaufen imperial castles. It is still inhabited today. Then to the Schniddelfels viewpoint, where you have a great view of the Wasgau. At the end of the route, enjoy the lakes in Portzbachtal up to Seehofweiher.

Info about Berwartstein Castle: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_BerwartsteinRoadbook
First head south towards the "Hans Trapp" path. Turn west onto it.
Go around the campsite and then up to Nestelberg to the ruins of "Klein Frankreich" castle (https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Klein-Frankreich).
Down towards Berwartstein Castle. After visiting / stopping there, continue on the "Hans Trapp" path up to Grünberg. Once at the top, follow the signs to Schniddelfels.
From there, return the same way back to the Hans Trapp path, then take a right curve around Grünberg and continue towards Portzbachtal.
At a barrier, leave the Hans Trapp path towards Frauenwoog.
Whether you want to walk in Portzbachtal on the Hans Trapp path (left lakeshore) or on the Kapellen-Pilgerweg (right lakeshore) is a matter of preference...
By the way, the Seehofweiher is a public bathing lake...
