Roadbook
Starting from Annenheim, you take the Gerlitzen cable car up to the summit. The Bergeralm circular route follows the signposting eastwards (trail 175). Always descend gently past the picture frame and the greeting to Tibet until you reach the Jacob’s ladder. Here, two parallel paths lead towards Schönfeld settlement. You can either choose the direct path from the Jacob’s ladder (trail 73) or the path beginning further left via the Noreia sky ladder, the rock chapel and the rock lake towards Schönfeld settlement. Both paths lead onto a paved road.
On the paved road (trail 7), head back towards Bergeralm and turn left at the next junction towards Wippenighöhe (trail 71), reaching after a few minutes the lower entrance portal of the gallery path. The gallery path is a short and easy trail featuring ten works by regional artists. The gallery path leads into the Gerlitzen road, which you follow downwards, then turn left under the bend again towards Bergeralm (trail 71).
Following the signposting, you walk through wonderfully cool larch and spruce forests along the path of the philosophers. The path rises again at the upper forest edge of Bergeralm towards Gerlitzen summit. After a short climb, you reach the weather cross at the intersection of the municipalities Treffen, Steindorf, and Arriach. The weather cross was once a trigonometrical point used for surveying. Those who want an overview of the Carinthian summit names can use the Viscope experience telescope free of charge.
After a short climb (trail 175), you will reach the starting point of the round again.
