Amid a landscape of FOREST and WATER, the fascination of WILDERNESS can be experienced up close in the Nationalpark Eifel. On well-developed thematic hiking routes, the national park and its surroundings can be rediscovered again and again. 240 kilometers of hiking trails are available in the national park.
The approximately 12 km long hike leads through the gnarled oak forests of the Hetzinger Forest and along Kaldenbach, Schliebach, and Odenbach, three meandering mountain streams with their typical stony stream beds. The usually idyllic trickling brooks in summer can turn into impressive torrents during wetter periods. Observant hikers may find gnawing marks from beavers or discover other animals such as woodpeckers, songbirds, deer, stags, or wild boars that are native here. Additionally, there is a variety of insects (butterflies and beetles) that especially feel at home in the clear-cut areas, as well as a diverse plant world.

Safety information
The national park administration asks you to strictly observe the path regulations. This ensures necessary resting zones for animals and plants and is an important component of the compromise between nature conservation and experiencing nature through humans – two important goals of a national park.
Due to potential beaver occurrences, please also observe the leash requirement for dogs.
