In winter, the second largest ski area in Georgia is quite busy, but in summer and autumn, you almost have the mountains to yourself and can enjoy the view from the southern edge of the barely visible crater, where the village is located, undisturbed. Especially in autumn, when the leaves on the trees change color, this hike is beautiful. On the traces of the long history of winter tourism, one encounters repeatedly.
From the bus station, 1670 m, we follow Mtis Street 100 meters east and then turn right onto the main road. After about 600 meters this bends right and leads 1.2 km to a junction, 1720 m, in Bakuriani. We turn right and then take the 3rd field path on the left that runs under the power lines. Now we walk straight towards the radio masts on the 2806 m high Sakvelosmta. After another 5 minutes the path splits, we go right over a bridge past a substation. 150 meters later we take the right fork, after another 150 meters right again, now slightly uphill. Also at the fork shortly after we keep right. The road leads us through a beech forest with a slight right curve uphill. After 250 meters we reach a bridge behind which the paths fork, here go straight until the path makes a sharp right turn. Just before the turn we turn left onto a forest road, 1750 m, entering the forest. This leads us uphill in 15 minutes to a clearing. We keep left, go slightly downhill and reach a second clearing. We
