Baceno and the Orridi di Uriezzo - DoggoMaps
DATE: 08/04/2025
DEPARTURE: Parking lot in front of Ristorante Pizzeria Campagna in Località Verampio.
PATH TYPE: well-shaded and well-maintained paths with gravel and compact earth. From Località Verampio to Baceno, you walk on Via dell'Arbola, an ancient stone-paved mule track of great historical importance regarding the transit of goods across the Alps. There is asphalt in the inhabited centers and to reach the Orridi di Uriezzo. Pay attention to the section connecting Località Rozzaro to Sasso di Premia: signage is missing and the path disappears, left to itself. It can be avoided by staying on the path parallel to the main road. But we love adventure...
WATER POINTS: fountains in inhabited centers and, from the Orridi di Uriezzo to Località Verampio, access to the Toce river. The doggos can enjoy a relaxing and refreshing arrival with the small natural pools of the Marmitte dei Giganti of Uriezzo. However, pay attention, especially with small dogs, to the currents of the river that carve these basins in the rock: we recommend keeping the dog on a leash to enjoy a completely safe end of the walk in this small corner of aquatic paradise.
POINTS OF INTEREST: the Monumental Church of San Gaudenzio in Baceno. The Orridi di Uriezzo and the Marmitte dei Giganti. We made a small detour to the Church of San Bernardo before reaching Premia, but found construction fences covering both church and view.
CLIMATE: this route can be walked at any time of the year. The paths are mainly well shaded and protect from summer heat. We were there in early August.
