The Auerberg captivates with a breathtaking panorama. This »Swabian Rigi« is touched by the 140-kilometer-long Prelates' Path from Marktoberdorf to Kochel am See.
From the church in Bertoldshofen, 720 m, we go over the Geltnach and on the Prelates' Path (staff marking), a briefly ascending farm road here, to Burk. A small stretch of road and a narrow asphalt path bring us to Riedhof, 758 m.We continue on a field path, becoming less distinct after a creek bridge, over a meadow hilltop. In Echt, 830 m, we hike on a farm road to the farms of Settele and on a secluded lane to the romantic Weidensee, 835 m.After a flat section between forest islands, we cross the Stötten–Remnatsried road and walk mildly uphill again. In the hamlet of Buchen, 892 m, we take the quiet road on the left over Hofstatt to Geisenhofen, 910 m. At the beginning of the village, the usual sign at the charming chapel points to the Auerberg.At the end of a farm road, we keep the marking in sight and stroll a stretch along a meadow track beside a fence.
