Nature Trail and Alpine Pasture Circular Route on the Largest Gastein Alpine Pasture

The huge valley basin of Naßfeld, scattered with several managed alpine pastures, is framed by mighty mountain slopes that irresistibly draw every mountain enthusiast upwards. For the hiker, the largest alpine pasture in the Gastein Valley offers a nature trail and an alpine pasture circuit with plenty of variety in a scenic and attractive environment.

To the right of the valley station of the Goldbergbahn, 1588 m, we cross the Siglitz and Naßfeld streams on two bridges and then hike along the east bank of the latter body of water and at the mountain foot southwards to a fork in the trail, 1605 m, (information board) opposite the Naßfeldalm. Here the small loop of the nature trail (our return route) continues straight ahead in the valley floor to the Moaralm, while the large loop branches off left and ascends to a scenic hillside terrace. It meets the road leading to the middle station of the Goldbergbahn, but only follows it to the second curve before turning right. Interesting information boards about the flora, fauna, geology of the high mountains, and alpine farming line the path. Benches on the edge ridges of the hillside terrace offer rest and views over the alpine pasture and its mountain surroundings. At a fork in the trail, 1775 m, we turn right, cross a small stream on the downward-leading Peter-Sika Trail, and descend over
