The Arpaisten outdoor and hiking route comprises over 50 kilometers of trails from Ähtäri Zoo all the way to the center of Soini. Highlights of the route include Matosuo, favored by birds, the elevated cultural landscape of Löytöperä, and the Arpaisten esker area. The route also features other beautiful details such as eskers and moraine knolls, small lakes, and rivers.
The outdoor area’s center is the cabin Arpaiskämppä, suitable for overnight stays, with a fireplace, woodshed, dry toilet, sauna by the river, and a campfire site. Camping is also possible in a tent. From Arpaiskämppä, it is about 28 kilometers to both Ähtäri Zoo and the center of Soini. Between Arpaiskämppä and Soini there are several rest stops: Saarilampi, Löytöjoki, Läskilampi, and Kaihiharju.
In the scenery of Kaihiharju, around Arpainen route side trails include an accessible nature trail, Hermanninlenkki, and Hermanninpolku.
