This loop combines many highlights: The Collis Steilpfad trail leads to the magnificent viewing platform at the Collisturm, offering a view over the Moselle loop. From there, we hike along the vineyards to Bullay, passing shelters with beautiful views. After crossing the striking two-story bridge, we’ll have what might be the best view of the Moselle from the Prinzenkopf Tower: on both sides, the river flows past Marienburg Castle.
From the Schwarze-Katz Fountain on the market square in Zell, we walk past the tourist information office and up Marktstraße. We turn right and then left onto Zeller Kehr. Here, a sign points us to the left toward the beautiful waterfall on the Zeller Bach. Further up, we pass the square tower of the medieval city fortifications and cross the Zeller Bach. Immediately after the bridge, we turn right onto the Collis steep trail, following the Moselsteig trail markers all the way (until just before Bullay). The trail forks, and we have to make a decision: to the left is the via ferrata (ropes, iron steps, and ladders); to the right, the steep trail continues. Both routes lead to a wide vineyard path, which we follow to the right. A second short via ferrata section follows (partly straight up), which can easily be bypassed on the right. We reach the Collis Tower, which rewards us with a magnificent view of Zell and the Moselle loop. Those who have completed the ascent are welcome to ring
