, Wegberg is surrounded by numerous mills, some of which we’ll see on this tour. The region was also a center for flax cultivation and processing, as can be seen at the Flax Museum located in the Beeck neighborhood.
In Wegberg, we head from the Gelderner Weg parking lot onto Bergstraße (A4), cross the Grenzlandring, and, as we leave town, turn onto Nachtigallenweg and then onto the street “In Bissen.” At the “Zur Bischofsmühle” intersection, with fields on the right, we turn left and cross the Schwalmbach on the bridge. We come to Mühltalweg, cross it, and turn slightly to the right, walking slightly uphill onto a narrower forest path (A4) until we reach a country road. Here, we continue the route to the right and shortly thereafter reach Tüschenbroich Castle, where there is not only a former grain mill but also an oil mill. Today, this is the site of the well-known restaurant Tüschenbroicher Mühle. We walk around the pond and continue through the forest (A4) to the edge of the woods. Diagonally to our left, we see a water tower. On our way across the fields, we reach the village of Uevekoven, through which we continue toward Beeck (A4), crossing Erkelenzer Straße (L3).
