Day 1: From Münstertal to Haldenhof
The first day is characterized by a Mediterranean climate on the west side of the Black Forest. From Münstertal, you have a view of the Rhine Valley on one side, while on the other side the massif of the Belchen rises, beneath which the Münstertal seems to meander left and right.
- Münstertal train station to Kälbelescheuer
From Münstertal train station, you first go right down the main street into the valley and after 100 m turn left onto Köpfleweg. From here, follow the yellow diamond and the sign "Kälbelescheuer." It is about 9.5 km from the station to Kälbelescheuer, with a steady ascent.
The stations in detail: Münstertal train station (372 m) – Köpfle – Läger – Hinterer Kreuzgrund (758 m) – Gabler Eck (797 m) – Gutmännnerspaß – Heitersheimer Rank – Kälbelescheuer (976 m).
Kälbelescheuer is situated on a hilltop where you have a view of Belchen on one side and a stunning view of the Rhine Valley on the other. Refresh yourself here for the last stretch to the goal of the first day's stage. If you like, feel free to sit longer. It's only a stone's throw to Haldenhof.
- Kälbelescheuer to Berghotel Haldenhof
From Kälbelescheuer to Haldenhof it's only 2.5 km without any significant climbs. The signage now changes to a blue diamond. Haldenhof is already indicated.
Day 2: From Haldenhof to Wiedener Eck
Original Black Forest can be seen and discovered on the second day's section. Belchen is on the program. You ascend from the west and descend from the northeast to the stage goal of the second stage, the mountain hotel Wiedener Eck.
- Berghotel Haldenhof to Belchen
Directly in front of Haldenhof (opposite on the other side of the road) you start the second stage. Today you hike exclusively on the Westweg (red diamond) heading north. To Belchen it is only 6 km but the elevation rises continuously from 910 m to 1,414 m. Manage your pace well.
The stations to Belchen in detail: Haldenhof – Richtstatt (1,050 m) – Hohkelchsattel (1,245 m) – Belchen summit (1,414 m)
The Belchenhaus, the highest guesthouse in Baden-Württemberg, invites you to linger here at the top. In good weather, you can admire the Alpine panorama from the sun terrace.
- Belchen to Wiedener Eck
The second part of the day is about another 7 kilometers. You continue to follow the Westweg with the red diamond. Wiedener Eck is already signposted from Belchen. First, there is a steep descent to the Krinne (1,205 m). From here, the path winds further to Wiedener Eck, the target of the second stage.
The stations in detail: Belchen – Krinne (1,205 m) – Am Heidstein – Wiedener Eck (1,035 m).
Day 3: From Wiedener Eck back to Münstertal
Opposite the hotel you first walk a stretch back on the Westweg, the way you came the day before. At Am Heidstein you leave the Westweg and from here follow the blue diamond to Breitnau. The blue diamond leads you further to St. Trudpert monastery. If you wish, you can add a small detour via the visitor mine and return to the station through the district of Mulden.
