This varied circular hike gives a good impression of the landscape diversity of the High Venn. Mostly on paths and boardwalks, the route initially leads through the core area of the Walloon Venn and to the highest point of Belgium (694 m), the Signal de Botrange. It continues through the Polleur Venn and along the eponymous stream. The return path leads through the forest and the Herbôfaye stream to the Croix des Fiancés. At this spot in January 1871, a young couple froze to death on their way to Xhoffraix to get the necessary papers for their planned wedding. The last 20 minutes before reaching the Baraque Michel lead again over boardwalks, and the view can extend for kilometers over the Great Venn. The Fischbach Chapel, originally built to rescue lost Venn travelers with a bell, is just a few hundred meters from the parking lot at the Baraque Michel.
