The Achalm, 707 m high, is Reutlingen's local mountain and landmark, only 3 km from the city center, and a typical witness mountain. Below the summit lies the Rappenplatz, a prehistoric settlement site. Numerous viewpoints along the route offer impressive panoramic views über Reutlingen and the Albvorland.

The charming circular trail exposes the diversity of the landscape around Reutlingen's local mountain. The path leads through the Albvorland with its orchard meadows and light deciduous forests. A cultural highlight is the Rappenplatz, a prehistoric settlement site directly below the summit. The destination of the tour is the plateau of the 707 m high Achalm. Here, the distinctive remains of walls and exposed foundations hint at the former size of the medieval fortress. Those who climb the 18-meter-high Achalm tower, built on the foundations of the old bergfried, will be rewarded with a magnificent view: The sight sweeps over the Neckar valley to the Black Forest and along the "blue wall" of the Alb edge. Numerous resting benches and the historic atmosphere of the ruin make the hike an unforgettable natural experience for lovers of nature and history alike.

Please stay on the designated paths. During heavy rainfall and in winter months, the ground can be very slippery. At the same time, we point out possible natural forest hazards. Please behave responsibly.

It is up to each individual to decide whether the hike is suitable for you depending on the weather conditions, fitness, etc.
