Around Röthenbach (Long Loop)

From the train station, we walk along the east side of the tracks in a northeasterly direction toward Wigglis. We cross the state highway, keep to the right, and turn left between the houses. After passing through the settlement, we follow a tree-lined path to the edge of the forest. We hike north along the edge of the forest. Before the trail crosses meadows again, we turn left into the forest. Keeping straight ahead, we reach the Harratrieder Bach via a winding path. We stay on its east side. Through the forest, along meadows, and through a wetland, we reach Seelesanger in a few minutes. We walk around the estate. At the entrance, we head northeast. Before the hill, we turn left. On a slight incline, we walk into Harratried. At the chapel, we leave the little village again, heading east. After a few meters, we can turn left onto a dirt road. This leads over to Brettweg. On the other side of the county road, we cross the farmstead. We follow the path uphill to the next houses. Behind them, we walk around the pasture and climb up to Schmalenberg. We hike along a small road, first heading south and then east after the fork. At the next farm, we walk through the buildings. We descend northward on a gravel path to the meadows. Once we reach the Obere Argen, we follow it to the right toward the road bridge. On the other side, in Zwirkenberg, we leave the state highway heading toward Gestratz. At the next fork, we walk back to the Argen and cross it again. We stay only briefly at the Röthenbach. Behind the first farm, our ascent to Altensberg begins. We cross the village heading south. We head toward Schneit on a dirt road. Behind the clinic, we follow the small road into the forest. There, we turn right. After a few minutes, we reach the forest kindergarten above Röthenbach. From there, we descend into the village. We walk to the church. Via Rentershofen, we reach the railroad embankment. We climb steeply up to the underpass. Keeping to the right, we’re back at the train station in no time.
