There are several cultural sights along the hiking trail.
The first is already at the starting point and parking lot on Rheinstraße.
It is the Johannes Chapel also called “Stróóßer Kapell”.
Furthermore, there is the Peace Cross, the Marian place of worship in Härtelwald
and the Miners Cross. The route also leads to many great viewpoints
through lovely creek valleys but also over asphalted agricultural field paths.
Author’s recommendation
You should definitely see the Johannes Chapel, the Peace Cross, the
Marian place of worship and the Miners Cross,
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.

Safety information
After days of rain be especially careful on the paths in the Rohrbach valley. There is
also a flood bypass running somewhat higher in the Rohrbach valley, though then you miss
the highlight of the route. So better to wait for better weather.
Tips and suggestions
On the hiking trail, on Sundays it is possible to stop at the Fisherman’s hut Kimp until about 1:00 pm.

Roadbook
The hike begins at the parking lot at the Johannes Chapel
and at the Meisberger Inn. 80m above the parking lot
the municipal road coming from Marpingen flows into
Rheinstraße, the hike starts on this street, after
270m we pass the Peace Cross standing in a small park on the right
side which is worth seeing.
After another 650m we reach Keltenhof, 150m further
we continue walking onto the asphalted agricultural field path turning off on the left side
and after 600m come to the Härtelwald beginning on the right. Our onward path is the narrow trail
(not along the forest edge) leading us into the forest. After about 150m
the path turns left and after 260m we take the path
that steeply descends, and after 100m we reach a
wide forest path, we walk left and then immediately right
and after 150m reach the Marian place of worship in
Härtelwald. We continue uphill on this path which then turns
right and almost on the same level after 850m leads to the Miners Cross and the L318 road. We cross diagonally
to the left over the road and continue on the path which leads to the right above the riding stable. After 300m the premium trail Bieberpfad crosses our path
on which we then hike for several kilometers always following the markings,
down to the Alsbach stream, then uphill over the Bastberg and down again to the
valley floor of the Rohrbach stream. Here the Bieberpfad leads us further up the valley, until at a footbridge
the premium trail branches off to the left. We stay on the right valley side and the path
steadily climbs out of the valley floor and after a right curve out of the forest. 300m
upwards along the forest edge we come upon an asphalted
agricultural field path and stand at the edge of the glider airfield. We walk left onwards
and after 450m reach a fork in the path, going left here and after 120m right
into the field path. First slightly uphill and then steeply downhill for 640m
until we come to an asphalt path. At this point you can go right and 200m to
the Fisherman's hut where you can take a rest. (Open Sundays until about 1:00 pm)
The onward path leads 1.2km up the valley to the left past Jakobshof and in a
right curve over Kump-Berg onto the asphalt path. Walking left we reach
after 560m a turn where we follow to the right. After 400m downhill we go
right again. After a left curve straight ahead, after 1km we reach on the right
side the first house of Alsweiler. Here we take the field path downhill along the fence
and after 240m reach Mühlenstraße. We walk 100m to the left and then go right
downhill over Alsbach creek to the L133 road. On the opposite side a path leads
into the industrial area and along its edge, past two barriers, until its end
we walk. At the end of the fence a field path leads us uphill to the left, after 100m a path branches off to the right
which leads us after another 100m to the forest edge. Here we walk on
the first trail that leads us to the left into the forest, always climbing through the forest, and
sometimes also along the forest edge. After 1.7 km we reach Rheinstraße again at
the beginning of the district. We walk right into the settlement and after 830m
arrive back at the starting point and parking lot.
Directions
Either use the access to Rheinstraße in the centre of Marpingen, or from
Urexweiler towards Remmesweiler, at the end of the village turn left uphill to Römerhof and then
turn left to Rheinstraße, from here it is still 2 km of narrow asphalt road!
