Lindelbrunn Castle near Vorderweidenthal was built in the second half of the 12th century as a protective fortress for the Trifels Imperial Castle. It was destroyed during the Peasants' War in 1525. The ruins are one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the southern Palatinate Forest. We follow several premium hiking trails on this varied but also strenuous hike.
The forest path winds in a spiral from the Lindelbrunn forester's lodge up to the signposted Lindelbrunn ruins on the almost 438 m high Schloßberg. The view is stunning at any time of year! Reddish-brown red sandstone rocks tower above the wooded mountain cones; when there is fresh snow, the Rödelstein shines in delicate white. Back at the Lindelbrunn forester's lodge, the Red Sandstone Trail, the Wasgau Rock Trail, the yellow-red line and the green triangle lead us to a junction at the access point for emergency vehicles 6813-554. 100 m before this, however, we leave the yellow-red line, which branches off to the right. We follow the two other markings to the right across the fields into the forest until, after 600 m, the Rödelstein path, which was laid out in 1927, turns off to the right. This takes us to the foot of the elongated rock of the Rödelstein. Back at the junction of the Rödelstein path, we continue to the right on the Rotsandsteinweg and the Wasgau-Felsenweg. After 450 m,
