This route is probably reserved more for the specialist, as it was specifically compiled for the purpose of circumnavigating Kempten. Attractive sections alternate with passages that simply have to be walked to keep the distance manageable and close the loop. The route can also be hiked throughout the winter, as long as the snow conditions allow it. However, attention should be paid to the fact that some path stretches may be icy and thus difficult to walk on.
First, we walk a bit on the track of the former Kempten - Isny railway line. Then we climb up to Mariaberg and enjoy the beautiful view of the typical Allgäu landscape. At halfway we cross the Iller. We enter the valley of the Leubas, feel the proximity of the highway, leave Kempten East to the right, and shortly before the goal reach the Iller again. At the end, we explore the Hermannstobel before heading to our destination via the shortest route.

We go under the city ring road through the tunnel. Heading south, we follow it to the next intersection. After that, we turn right and curve onto Heussring. The signs show us the way to the city pond. Over the old railway track, past the former stopping point Steufzgen, we arrive there in a few minutes. At the inflow, we leave the circular route along the small stream. We cross the state road. Upon reaching the Rottach, a small bridge takes us over to Rottachsäge. The old railway bridge is not passable. We follow Pulvermühlweg northeast to the junction to Unterried. Through Unterried and Eppenried, we climb the driveway to Mariaberg. The inn is unfortunately closed until further notice. After a few meters, we stand by the large pine on the broad hill and have a wonderful view of the Allgäu surroundings. We now continue almost due north, following the signposts to Hirschdorf. The path is mostly a small paved street. We pass the farms in Stürmers, Prestlings, Elmatried, and Öschberg. The road then sharply turns east. At the next junction, we follow the sign to Schwärzler Hof to the left. In Kollerbach, we cross the district road. After a few meters on a private path, we reach a forest path over a meadow patch. Behind it lies Reisachmühle. Since the former hiking trail to Hirschdorf should no longer be used, we have to accept the detour via Rappenscheuchen. Behind Hirschdorf, we cross the Iller and enter the valley of the Leubas. Over Gräbelesmühle and Weidachmühle, we reach the highway. After a few minutes, we reach the namesake Kempten district Leubas. At the church, we keep left and follow the side road through the meadows to Hochstraß. Over Wettmannsberg, we walk towards Kempten-East, which lies on the other side of the highway. We leave the district on the right and reach Lenzfried. Here, there is an Edeka supermarket directly on the route, and it is possible to refresh provisions during opening hours. Through the golf course, we walk to the Kempten - Buchloe railway line. Since our circumnavigation of Kempten is still not over, we must follow the little roads towards Durach and must not turn into the city. Behind Linggen, we turn southwest. Over Herberlingen and Miesenbach, we walk on the footpath along the bypass to Oberkottern. After the sports fields, we keep left through Webereistraße to the main road, which we follow inwards towards the city, northward. At the New Apostolic Church, we descend a few meters down to the bank of the Iller. At the old bleachery, we cross the river. Through the district Eich, we reach the southern end of the station area. Since the further path along Obere Eicher Straße would become a bit boring, we finally descend the Herrmannstobel until a cross path leads us north to the station.
