Look at modern facilities in the Eichsfeld and observe the forest restructuring with the climatic changes. This results in wonderful panoramic views!
The hike begins in Günterode, a municipality with an interesting history regarding the district, Günterode, Queckhagen, and the deserted village of Riesbach.
After about 1.5 kilometers, you pass the new staging facility of the biogas plant, one of the most modern in the entire Eichsfeld. Past Geistholz, you look towards the Rusteberg.
Your hike continues below the airfield towards the sports ground. On the motorway bridge, you have a view of the Leine valley and the surrounding heights.
On the way back to Günterode, along the forest, you have a good view of the forest restructuring and the climatic changes.
Shortly before Günterode, you can discover on Retenberg where the first wind turbine in the Eichsfeld stood.
Along the entire circular hiking trail are viewpoints with seemingly endless views of the 'Green Belt', to Birkenhain, the Brocken, or the Hoher Meißner.
