Eckartsberga, located in a narrow valley basin, is surrounded by wooded heights. Above the small town rises the ruins of Eckartsburg.
On the ridge of the Finne, which offers beautiful views of the Thuringian Basin to the south, we reach Marienthal, where a small castle park originally laid out as an English landscape park and a former monastery await us, the later Marienthal Castle, now operated as a holiday facility. Through the forest, the next highlight, the Dutch windmill built in 1830-31, is reached. Shortly, we enter Thuringia in the Reisdorfer wood and on the Finne slopes near Auerstedt, where we enjoy wide views at the Four Napoleon Lindens. The ruins of Eckartsburg form the crowning conclusion of the tour.
The hike begins at the Eckartsberga bus stop, Hauptstraße. We climb the steps, keep right at the top and go straight at the intersection where the restaurant is on the left. Drivers go up the road to the intersection, restaurant on the right, then turn diagonally left. All then keep diagonally left at the next street and go straight at the fork. Now attention is needed. Opposite house no. 9/9a/9b, the path turns right up at the parking lot onto a grass-covered path, unmarked and not immediately recognizable as a path. We continue straight on it. It gets steep and we finally climb steps.From the so-called Liebeslaube, the Finne hiking trail is signposted (red triangle), which we turn left onto. We follow this sign for a long time. At the T-junction, we keep diagonally right uphill, at the next T-junction diagonally left. Soon we reach an open area. Continuing straight, we pass two benches with a viewpoint on the left.
