This scenic route over the heights around Eberhardzell can also be done well during the short days in late autumn or winter. Beautiful views in good weather.

The route leads over municipal roads, field paths, and finally over a trail around Eberhardzell. Through small villages and individual farms, it first goes approximately 60 meters uphill to Hedelberg. Then down into the Romersbach valley and over a small ridge back into the Umlach valley near Awengen. Along the ski slope up to Heinrichsburg and Neideck ruins. Down a trail to Eberhardzell and back to the parking lot.
Author’s recommendation
Unfortunately, there is no place to stop for refreshments along the way. Those who want to stop nearby can drive by car towards Ritzenweiler and turn right twice at the entrance to the village to reach the Reiterstüble of the riding hall. Highly recommended.

Roadbook
From the parking lot along the street to the church and further to the bend in the road. Here, follow the road towards Füramoos and at 600 m elevation turn left onto a municipal connecting road towards Hedelberg. On the ridge, you reach the Beutel chicken farm. Now down a hollow way into Hedelberg. At the end of Hedelberg, slightly down to the Romersbach and along it up to before Dietenwengen. To avoid walking further on the road, turn left now and take a small road over the crest and to the edge of the Umlach valley. Here there is a good view over Awengen and Boflitz. Now down into the valley and at a riding farm towards the ski lift into the forest and back up to the path to Heinrichsburg - a manor that is no longer operated. Past the old Heinrichsburg (privately owned and not accessible) and down a path to Eberhardzell, which was visible from above for some time. This section should be tackled with caution when wet. We also visited the interesting church. From here back to the parking lot.
