Dévény (Devin) village is located 15 km from Pozsony (Bratislava), which is interesting because you can admire a beautiful border castle and the nearby mountains also hold attractions for us.
The Morava flows here into the Danube, which makes the route exceptionally beautiful.
Devin- Sandberg- Devinska Kobyla -Dubravská Hlavica - Úzky Les - Devin
On the 16 km long hiking trail, Dévény Castle offers a continuous panorama along with the Morava and Danube; the Sandberg sand dunes provide a unique sight, and the 514 m high peak of Devinska Kobyla is also touched by the route, before returning to Dévény.

We start from Dévény Castle; if you have time, it is recommended to visit the inside of the castle as well. From the foot of the castle, it is worth seeing the iron curtain and other memorials along the bank of the Morava River in the small park. At the end of the park, cross the main street (Kremel'ská) and follow a Blue Trail up (Hadia cesta). The path ends soon, but don't be afraid, there is more. The hiking trail continues left on a narrow path with a gentle climb. Walk one behind the other; it can be a bit slippery in rainy weather. For a beautiful view, it is worth turning back (Pod Devinskou Kobylou). We continue to follow the blue hiking trail, which slowly widens; at an old mining site, there is a resting place with giant wooden carved animals (Weitov Lom). The path first becomes rocky, then gradually sandy as we approach Sandberg. Sandberg cannot be missed, a sign points it out, and the sand dune is fenced with a wooden fence. If we want to interrupt our hike here, we can reach the village of Devinská Nová Ves (Dévényújfalu), from where a bus goes back to Dévény.
If we want to continue our route, we start going up the yellow hiking trail, then when the green trail joins, continue on the green trail. (On the map, we accidentally went further on the yellow trail and crossed to the green via an unmarked path. Devinska Kobyla has a beautiful view from here, then the green trail ends and we have a red sign. On the map, we basically followed the green trail (more on an unmarked path). We reach the farther part of the red trail. The forest is beautiful, a few waterfalls can be found here, but it doesn't offer much additional sight, so we can comfortably stay on the red trail (later the yellow also joins), which leads down to the village. If you reach the farther part of the red trail, you will need to switch back to the yellow trail to return to Dévény.
