The Small Thuringian Forest south of the railway line between Grimmenthal and Suhl, directly south of theintersection of the A71 and A73 is a not so much in the spotlight hiking area, actually unfairly. It offers good hiking trails, forest and evidence of various prehistoric and historic epochs up to the Middle Ages. All points are clearly prepared by the Association for Archaeology and Monument Preservation Suhl e. V. and provided with information boards. The hiker can expect a vivid experience of history in a beautiful landscape.
