From Apoikia the 5th day-hike of Andros Route 100 takes hikers via route 10 to Strapouries. It is a beautiful crossing through forested now - agricultural once - landscape. In this part an annex (10a) appears that leads hikers near the abandoned settlement of Evrousies. Hiking this annex is not recommended as the trail is in bad shape - as of April 2022. If you however feel like exploring the place feel free to go on. From where route 10 ends, route 9 takes hikers to Pitrofos, where the Olive Museum is, and through a mountain pass on the Petalos massif, to the western coast. This day's route ends at the intersection with branch 9a, above Paleopolis.

    Author’s recommendation

Note that the technical details (length, time etc) described in the following section do not include the annexes, neither 10a nor 9a.

    Tips and suggestions

Since this day's route ends just above Palaiopolis, in the wilderness, it is possible if hikers want to, to descend to Palaiopolis, along route 9a (link) and take the circular route of Palaiopolis' antiquities or just descend to Palaiopolis to find food and a place for the night. The next morning one could just head up to the place where the route was left the previous night. Hiking these places in Spring, a lot of water springs were encountered. It is not certain though if in Summer or Autumn the abundance of water will still be the same. To sum things up, if you are not going to spend the night in Palaiopolis food will have to be stocked beforehand, and unless you visit the place in Spring, spring water is not guaranteed.
