At the Andersnattjenn lake, the idyllic mountain trail begins on the scenic Andersnatten, whose legendary white vein in the southeast wall is a classic climbing route in eastern Norway: A troll named Anders left the white "ski track" in the wall when he slid down the rocks with a child on his back. The white veins in the rock are best recognized during the approach from Lake Soneren, where the Andersnatten reflects in the clear water on beautiful days. The mountain became famous through the artist Theodor Kittelsen, who lived for a time in Lauvlia by Lake Soneren. Besides his landscape paintings, he mainly shaped the appearance of Norwegian trolls and other fairy-tale figures in the imagination of the entire people. His motifs are popular nowadays in the metal scene.
The blue marked trail begins at an information board next to the parking lot at Lake Andersnattjenn. The rock and root path winds west of the lake through pine forest as well as heath and moorland areas, damp spots are laid out with boardwalks that can be slippery when wet. Leaving the moor depression, the trail leads uphill, partly steep and over bare rock. Beautiful views of Trillemarka, Norway's largest forest reserve, are repeatedly offered. The higher we gain altitude, the more the forest thins out, gnarled individual pines replace it, their roots clawing into cracks and crevices, each tree a distinctive personality. Finally, the trail swings to the right on the northwest ridge and leads with a gentle ascent to the rock summit. At a junction, we choose the right, steeper path, which leads over some rock steps.
