Directly at the gates of the hotel begins the long, scenically beautiful hike over the gentle heights north of the Große Alpsee. Over the Muttener, the Kalzhofener, the Salmaser and the Thaler Höhe we hike with a view of the Große Alpsee, the largest natural lake in the Allgäu, from Oberstaufen to the east. To the south, the mighty Allgäu Alps form an impressive backdrop. At the end of the tour we descend to Bühl, which lies picturesquely on the shore of the Alpsee. A visit to the beach or a stop at the lake promenade can form a charming conclusion to the hike.

A very long hike in terms of distance, for which good fitness is necessary.Roadbook
From the hotel we walk briefly on the street "Am Lohacker" in a northerly direction until we reach the crosswise Bürgermeister-Hertlein-Straße. Here we keep right and follow the street for about 400 m. At the intersection we turn left into Kalzhofer Straße and walk into the village Kalzhofen. We pass the Marienkapelle (1) standing to our right, cross the main street straight ahead and at the northern end of the village choose the alpine path uphill to the right next to the golf course to the Obere Gsäng-Alpe. At the alpine building, we leave the gravel road and follow a meadow path northwest uphill. Shortly after, at the next fork before a group of trees, we turn right and ascend along the mountain ridge to the Muttener Höhe. Further along, the path leads us east over the Kalzhofener Höhe. From the 1118 m high hill, we hike downhill on an alpine path to an asphalt road. We orient ourselves left downhill on it until we reach a sharp left curve. Here we first follow the gravel path straight ahead into the forest and at the next fork choose the right forest path. This leads us through a small brook valley and over meadows to the Hirnbein-Alpe (2), which is managed in the summer season. At the alpine hut, we orient ourselves at the signpost to Salmaser Höhe and climb southeast uphill. The 1254 m high Salmaser Höhe (3) marks the highest point of our hike. From the summit, we continue following the ridge east with an ascent over the Thaler Höhe (4) to the viewpoint Alpseeblick. Here we can enjoy the wonderful view of the Alpsee below us, the Grünten region and the mighty mountain range of the Allgäu Alps in the south. From the viewpoint, it goes downhill north and over a small swamp meadow towards the Pfarralpe. We come upon a gravel path, where we keep right. At the next fork we choose the right path towards Siedelalpe. On a shady forest path and over scenic pasture areas we reach the Siedelalpe (5). From May 1st to mid-October, we can stop at this cosy alpine hut. Behind it, we hike downhill in an easterly direction following the path to Zaumberg. In Zaumberg, it goes down on a drivable road, later on a meadow path, to the Große Alpsee (6). Here, we turn left onto the lakeside road and follow it until a railway underpass on the right allows access to the lake. On the lake promenade, we stroll left towards Bühl. At Hausers beach we can stop and enjoy a refreshing swim in the lake. The café at the lake promenade in the pretty village of Bühl is also inviting to stop. After a long break at the lake, we keep right in Bühl and reach the bus stop on the B308 via the Seestraße and the Kirchensteige. By bus, we return to Oberstaufen train station.
