The hike starts in Wolfegg and initially leads towards the district of Rötenbach. The scenic tour over fields and meadows continues through Oppenreute and the Katzental before the route returns to Wolfegg. Passing the shrine of St. Nepomuk, a detour up the path lined with alleys of trees and stations of the cross to the Loreto chapel is worthwhile.
Author’s recommendation
In Rötenbach, there is the possibility to enter the village and visit the remarkable parish church of St. Jakobus.
Starting from the starting point, the car park at the Princely Court Garden, follow the footpath out of town until it branches off into a narrow asphalt road. At the fork, turn right towards Rötenbach. After a field cross, turn left on the footpath continuing to the Rötenbach town sign, where the path turns right. You have the option to enter the village to view the parish church of St. Jakobus. Alternatively, you can follow the path past Katzental, which soon leads to a field path. Continue through the forest. Follow the forest edge to Oppenreute. There the path turns left onto a small asphalt road. After the town sign, continue straight along Neckenfurter Straße. Then turn right onto Fürst-Max-Willibald-Straße and continue left. At the shrine of St. Nepomuk, cross the street and turn left onto the footpath leading to a car park. A detour up to the Loretto chapel is worthwhile here. Follow the Rötenbacher Straße into the town center and return to the starting point.
