A short hike that packs a punch: a quick ascent for a magnificent view, then down into a romantic, wide high valley surrounded by rugged mountain peaks. The views of the delicate mountain range between Monte Baffelan and Monte Cornetto on one side (called Sengio Alto) and the massive Carega group on the other, the center of the Piccole Dolomiti, are wonderful.
Opposite the Rifugio Campogrosso, several hiking trails start below the monument as a wide gravel path. We follow "P.so delle Gane" (149). This path branches off to the right a few steps after the monument. In front of us is the imposing Sisilla rock with a statue of the Madonna on top. We immediately come to a cross-path, which we follow to the right and continue walking comfortably and flat: this is the calm before the storm. Because a steep climb follows as soon as we turn left (signpost as before). It is only 240 m up to a small saddle, from where we can already see the wider meadow saddle of the Passo delle Gane with a signpost. So we turn left to the meadow saddle. With the Passo delle Gane between Cima delle Ofre and Monte Baffelan, we have reached our altimetric high point. The view towards Monte Pasubio and into the valley is wonderful.
