Albsteig

The Albsteig, also known as HW1 or Swabian Alb North Rim Trail, has been one of the main hiking trails of the Swabian Alb Association for over 100 years. Since 2012, the quality trail has been among the "Top Trails of Germany" and is thus officially one of the best hiking trails in Germany. The Albsteig runs for over 350 km from Donauwörth to Tuttlingen, repeatedly along the Albtraufkante. Unforgettable panoramic views accompany hikers during this long-distance hike. From the National Geopark Ries, the Albsteig leads past Aalen and the Limes, over the Filsalb, through the Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve to Teck Castle and Hohenneuffen Castle, through Bad Urach and past the Urach Waterfall. Further highlights follow, such as Lichtenstein Castle, the Nebelhöhle cave, and the Mössingen landslide. Unforgettable views are offered by the Dreifürstenstein, the Hangende Stein, the Zeller Horn with its overwhelming view of Hohenzollern Castle, and the Lemberg, the highest mountain of the Swabian Alb at 1015 meters.
