Safety information
Those who are often here know that the cyclists on the Bodden are annoying, often speeding past with electric drive and full throttle, wildly ringing their bells and keeping barely any distance. Those who are older and unsteady on their feet cannot quickly get out of the danger zone. Unfortunately, this is the case throughout Darß and is promoted by numerous bike rentals that, of course, rely on e-bikes.
For those who are fit, it is only annoying because you cannot practice mindfulness but must be attentive. That is already a difference for relaxation.
Those who want to let their soul dangle should pay attention to paths where there are no cyclists. The beach is naturally at the forefront here, and you can walk side by side quietly with another person.
Roadbook
Start around the hotel "Der Fischländer." From there, it goes onto the "Schifferberg," which runs parallel to the village street. From there, turn left onto the "Doris-Oberländer-Weg." After a few meters, you pass the houses and can go left uphill onto a large meadow. You can cross this freely, which is more beautiful due to the view of the Bodden from above. Once you have crossed the meadow, you reach a paved road, presumably private (no traffic except tractors, bicycles, and pedestrians). The road bends left then right onto an avenue leading to the Bodden. Upon reaching the Bodden, follow the path to the Althagen (Ahrenshoop) marina. Here you can stop for refreshments. The harbor path leads up to the "Althäger Straße" main road. One of the main arteries of Darß traffic. Cross carefully, keep right, then immediately take a left field path towards the sea.
Once on the coastal path, follow it to the right to the descent to the beach at the "Path to the High Shore." Down the stairs, you enter a small spit with a breakwater, where swimming is not advised due to undertows, caused by the back-and-forth flow of the surf, which are said to have cost several lives. There is, of course, plenty of conventional bathing beach to the right and left of the breakwater. From here, continue right along the beach to beach access "7." There, you leave the beach and find yourself back at "Der Fischländer."
