Taubenberg is of great importance to Munich residents, as a large part of Munich's drinking water is sourced at Taubenberg and the neighboring Mangfall valley. But Munich residents also like to visit this gentle hill for recreational purposes, whose highest point features an observation tower accessible in the summer half-year. The key can be obtained at the nearby Taubenberghaus if the tower is locked. Large parts of Taubenberg are forested, but along the west-east oriented ridge there are repeatedly nice views of the nearby mountains of the Bavarian Prealps.
From Warngau, the path leads fairly directly up to Taubenberg, first to the observation tower and then to the Christoph chapel. Here begins the scenic hike to Taubenberghaus and Maroldhof and down past several farms into the Mangfall valley at Gotzing. Following now mostly flat paths, one follows the course of the Mangfall before rising again onto a plateau extending between Mangfall and Schlierach. With repeatedly beautiful views, the path leads through numerous farms and finally down to Miesbach, the destination of this route suggestion.
