There is much history to experience on this hike. The remains of the former Oppidum Heidetränk at Goldgrube offer an interesting insight into a part of Celtic life. The Celtic ramparts on the Bleibeskopf are an idyllic, mysteriously charming place. The view from Herzbergturm over the Taunus with the Frankfurt skyline is like a leap back to the present before the former fort Saalburg and the Limes allow an approach to the history of the Romans in Germania. To end the tour, the Lochmühle leisure park, conveniently located directly at the destination station Saalburg, is worth a visit.
