The varied hiking trail starts directly below the Schwemmalmbahn. Over paved roads and dirt paths, you reach St. Nikolaus with a pleasant ascent (approx. 1 hour), where you will see several characteristic farms typical of the Ultental. From St. Nikolaus, the Ultner Höfeweg initially passes through a forest area before reaching more farms above St. Nikolaus. The path gently ascends along access roads to various farms and through meadows, finally reaching St. Gertraud (approx. 2.5 hours). Upon arrival, the route goes downhill. Along a paved road, you reach the well-known Ultner Urlärchen, which are among the oldest conifers in Europe. From the Urlärchen, you enjoy a wonderful view over the entire valley to St. Walburg. After about three and a half hours, you reach the small but no less impressive Klapfberg waterfall. Passing Villa Hartungen, a former sanatorium, the trail follows downhill past St. Nikolaus back to the starting point.
