The hike starts from the free public parking lot at the pass height. The ascent runs mainly on ski slope terrain on a kind of forest road that leads to the mountain station of the Zehnerkar cable car. Only there do you really leave the extensive ski area and reach rougher and rockier terrain. Very steep and partly secured with wire ropes, the path winds through the rocky terrain to the summit cross of Gamsspitzl.
The path towards Zehnerkarspitze, recommended for sure-footedness, passes by the foot of Gamsspitzl. Over a steep chute in brittle rock, you reach the scenic summit of Zehnerkarspitze with easy climbing (difficulty I).
Past the beautiful reservoir lake, you reach Gamsleitenspitze.
At the first hairpin bend of Gamsleiten 2, you go half-left to the foot of the mountain (climbing). Then it continues through the west wall over the grassy ridge to the cross.
