The free-standing location makes Puig Tomir one of Mallorca's best viewpoints. From the broad summit plateau, the entire northeast lies at your feet with the Formentor Peninsula and the bays of Pollença and Alcúdia. With a bit of luck, you can also observe monk vultures. However, the view must be earned; wire ropes and iron brackets help over the steepest passages.
From the Refugi de Son Amer, 548 m, we follow the GR 221 as described in stage 9 for about two hours over the Coll Pelat saddle, 686 m, to the Coll des Pedregaret, 650 m, where access to a decommissioned mineral water bottling plant is located. The ascent to Puig Tomir begins on a path to the right of the metal gate and a stone wall. After about 300 m, it turns sharply right; about 25 m later, we keep left. As soon as the forest thins out, first views open up of Puig de Massanella and Puig Major. Shortly after crossing a rocky scree tongue on the steep slope, it really gets serious – wire ropes and metal rungs help to climb a steep section. At just over 1000 m altitude, a saddle is reached; the most difficult parts of the ascent are now behind us. At the saddle, we keep left; cairns guide us through still rocky terrain onto a broad ridge, which finally leads up to the already visible summit pillar of Puig Tomir, 1104 m.For the descent, we orient ourselves by a dilapidated snow house
