Consorzio Turistico Tre Cime Dolomiti
Along the trail, it’s common to encounter various shrubs, a direct testament to the ongoing transformation from forest to farmland carried out by humans over time. Among the most characteristic and common species in the Ansiei Valley is the blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), a thorny shrub that blooms with white flowers in the spring before its leaves emerge, which later develop into small blue drupes; although edible, it is not recommended to eat them due to their tartness. Its thorns provide excellent protection against being grazed by livestock and ungulates, particularly deer and roe deer.
