Loop route located in the municipality of Cordignano, in the Prealps between Veneto and Friuli. The ascent retraces part of the ancient Patriarch's Road, built in the 12th century as an alternative to the Via Alemagna, for transporting goods from the lower Friuli region to the Belluno valleys. The route starts from Villa di Villa (Loc. Lama di Valbona) and is marked by red/white colors; the loop touches various locations and several sites of historical importance such as the Chestnut Tree of the Partisans, an ancient tree once used by partisans to leave messages for comrades, and the Charcoal Burners' Park, another historically important place where the tradition of charcoal burners, men and women who through a specific technique widespread in alpine environments converted beech wood and other wood into charcoal, is kept alive.

    Author’s recommendation

Don't forget to stop and visit the Charcoal Burners' Park and the Chestnut Tree of the Partisans, excellent stops on the route with great historical importance.

    Roadbook

Trail 1060 starts between two mountain huts at the end of the white road that branches off to the left from the paved road. From here on, follow the trail marked with the red-white sign uphill. After leaving Loc. Valbona, reach the road and turn right, then resume trail 1060 that climbs to Loc. Lama de Nicoi. Pass the meadow, keeping to the right side of the road, and turn right to follow a stretch on the paved road. Shortly after, turning right, follow the signs "1060 Charcoal Burners' Park", avoiding the detours found along the way. Once at Loc. Code del Bosco, turn right and, before resuming the trail that climbs to the left, it is possible to make a detour along the dirt road to reach the ancient chestnut tree called "Castagneron", then retrace your steps to resume trail 1060 uphill. After passing Loc. Lama dei Nadalin, you reach a fork; choose the forest track on the left, marked with a blue square with a yellow border. Be careful, as the track is used by downhill mountain bikers. At an elevation of 860 meters, keep left to follow the signs to Lamar, maintaining direction by following the wider forest road and, when present, the red and white arrow. Once you reach the paved road, turn left and descend to the Charcoal Burners' Park. Continue descending along the road for a few dozen meters and turn right onto Strada Col Alt. This mule track leads to Casera Col Alt (850 m above sea level); pass it and take the narrow and steep trail on the right that descends into the vegetation, follow it all the way until you reach the firebreak road. Turn left and at the next fork, turn right following the 1060 signs. Upon arriving at the barrier, you can make a quick visit to the Chestnut Tree of the Partisans, which is located on private property in the meadow at the center of the hairpin turn. Return to the barrier and take the small trail marked with red-white signs that goes around the property of the previously mentioned house and emerges at a mountain hut below. Continue descending along trail 1060 Villa di Villa, where you can see ancient terracing, now reforested, and some mountain huts. Upon reaching a beautiful decorated small house, take the trail continuing to the left until you arrive at a large meadow in Loc. Posoc, where you can rest on the table with benches, admiring the biodynamic experimental vineyard. At the end of the meadow, near the well, turn left and after a few hundred meters take the track to the right to cross the small valley. Upon reaching the large Lama Valente, turn left along the white road; after passing the barrier and crossing the paved road, turn left and climb for about twenty meters to return to the starting point.
