A relatively short stage with only moderate ascents and descents—and a great café terrace along the way! You’ll hike mostly along the cobblestone Camí de Castelló, an old village trail connecting Deià and Sóller that rarely rises above 300 meters above sea level and is lined—as befits the GR 221—with magnificent dry-stone walls. Forests alternate with lovely farmland—fans of gnarled olive trees, in particular, will be delighted. If you’re staying overnight in Port de Sóller, you can head down to the beach via a quiet little road and enjoy some relaxation at a seaside café. The staircase leads onto Carrer Es Porxo; continuing straight ahead, we pass the post office and reach the main thoroughfare (with the bus stop on the right). We turn left onto the street and, after 40 m, leave it at the next right-hand curve, taking a small road that leads straight down (if you’re out very early in the morning, you could also follow the Ma-10 for 1.1 km, saving not only time but also a few meters of elevation gain). The small road ends after the sports field at an information sign for the GR 221. Straight ahead, a path begins—narrow at first—that leads through an olive grove.
