If you start this gravel route in the heart of Zurich, you probably can't yet imagine how far the views will be that await you soon.
Shortly after leaving the hustle and bustle around Zurich main station, you turn into the first forest sections and immerse yourself in nature, kilometer after kilometer. You first follow the course of the river Sihl. Then, on well-developed forest roads, you ride toward Schlieren, Urdorf, and finally Birmensdorf. At Landikon, you leave the bike path again and climb the three hairpin bends to Ättenberg. After that, gravel paths and neighborhood streets alternate. This section between Ättenberg and Aumüli is somewhat off the beaten track, and the constant ups and downs on the ridge will surely excite you.
The last climb of this route – up to Felsenegg – is challenging again, but definitely worth it! Once at the top, you enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of Lake Zurich and the Höckler descent. Mountain bikers have known this descent for a long time. On the gravel bike, you don't take the trail here but the gravel road down – a direct route back to Zurich.
