This route is one of the more challenging ones and outlines its corners like a triangle from Gotha to Friedrichroda and Waltershausen.
From Gotha to Boxberg it runs along the Thuringian city chain long-distance cycle path and here it branches off onto the Flossgraben circular route. From Schönau v.d.W., the path winds along the northern slope of the Thuringian Forest through the spa town of Friedrichroda to the Marienglas cave. From here you cycle about 10 km more through forest area to Waltershausen. From afar, Tenneberg Castle can already be seen, proudly towering over the former doll town. Via Leina, it then goes back to Gotha along the Thuringian city chain long-distance cycle path.

Always pay attention to the road safety of your bike. The bike path partially runs on public roads. Watch out for other road users and ride cautiously!
Especially carry something to drink with you during the hot summer months to prevent dehydration. Sunscreen with a high SPF is also recommended. Wear comfortable clothing, ideally using the layering principle for clothing.
