Lednice landmarks

For today’s trip, we set off from the picturesque town of Valtice. Here you can visit the National Agricultural Museum with exhibitions focused on viticulture, winemaking, and fruit growing. We follow EuroVelo 9 along Ladenská Alley to the Rendez-vous chateau, which resembles an ancient Roman triumphal arch. More information is available during the tour. Around the chateau spreads a national nature reserve of the same name, home to endangered plants and animals. Another small building on our route is the chapel of Saint Hubert, followed by the Temple of the Three Graces, which is a summer house featuring a statue group of ancient goddesses (Athena, Artemis, and Aphrodite). After the visit, we continue along the same bike route past Nový Dvůr, along the dam of the Lednice fishponds to the village of Lednice. Here we definitely visit the local chateau (a national cultural monument), accessible by several guided tours. The chateau grounds also include a palm house with a collection of tropical and subtropical plants, the oldest in Europe. Around the chateau lies a Baroque park, which transitions into a natural landscaped park with romantic buildings and water surfaces with artificial islands. Then we continue on bike route no. 5043 through a forest path to the Nejdek crossroads, here we turn left and follow the Lednice trail to Nejdek and then to the crossroads Hraniční zámek. From there we set off along the Knížecí trail to the village of Hlohovec, where the church of Saint Bartholomew stands. We return along the same trail back to Valtice.
