This trail starts at the Jochpass at 2,200 meters above sea level. To get there, take the Titlis Xpress from Engelberg to Trübsee, then ride the short stretch along Lake Trübsee to the Jochpass chairlift. Once you reach the top, the fun begins right next to the Engstlen chairlift’s mountain station on a flowing, 1-meter-wide trail heading toward Engstlenalp.
On this bike trail, the focus is on riding fun; harmoniously nestled in the landscape, it’s by no means just for downhill enthusiasts. You can easily return to the start via the chairlift. Even when the day is over, the riding fun is far from over.
Author’s recommendation
Hunger and thirst are so much fun. The Berghuis Jochpass has plenty to offer when it comes to food. “Urner Häfelichabis,” a traditional stew; homemade corn croquettes; the warm chocolate cake; or the meatballs—you’ll be spoiled for choice. One thing’s for sure: it’s worth grabbing a seat on the terrace or fighting for one of the lounge chairs.
The return trip down to the valley takes you along the Jochpass-Trübsee Flow Trail (see route description) and then via the Gerschnitrail back to the village of Engelberg.
