Easy gravel route through the beautiful Lobau, part of the Donauauen National Park, starting at Praterstern in the center of Vienna.
Nice gravel bike route through the Lobau. After a relaxed warm-up on paved bike paths through the Prater and on the Donauinsel, beautiful gravel paths follow in the Lobau. The Lobau is part of the Donauauen National Park and impresses with magnificent floodplain forests and waters. The route is quite easy to ride due to the lack of elevation and is an absolute gravel enjoyment route. Of course, the route is also fun with a trekking or mountain bike. The route can also easily be shortened at several points. The entire route is almost traffic-free from the start, which further enhances the relaxed character of the route.

In the Donauauen National Park, to which the Lobau belongs, cycling is only allowed on designated paths.
Roadbook
We start at Praterstern and follow the main avenue to the motorway bridge, where we turn left. Over the bridge, we reach the Donauinsel and stay there for about three kilometers until we reach the National Park House. Now we follow the signposts towards Essling and stay on this path until we reach an intersection. There we turn right onto the paved road and follow it to the Vorwerk settlement. Immediately after, we turn left and ride along the oil depot back to the Donauinsel. The return to the Prater can be done on the same route or on the opposite bank of the Neue Donau.
